Level Crossing Removal Project

As part of the Hallam Road Level Crossing Removal Project, Kestrel supplied GFRP fence pickets and EA (equal angle) angle rails to enclose an on-site power generator at the newly opened, elevated Hallam Station. GFRP was specified for its non-conductive properties, removing the electrical hazard risk posed by conventional metal fencing around live power equipment.

Level Crossing Removal Project

Kestrel supplied GFRP pickets for fence lining along the Pakenham Level Crossing Removal Project. The project removed three dangerous level crossings — McGregor Road, Main Street and Racecourse Road — replacing them with a 2-kilometre elevated rail bridge and new stations at Pakenham and Pakenham East. GFRP's corrosion resistance means the fence lining will not rust or degrade over time, reducing the ongoing maintenance burden along the corridor.

Level Crossing Removal Project

Bonded to the underside of the concrete structure, CFRP laminates increase flexural capacity, extending the asset's service life without the cost and disruption of full structural replacement. Strengthening the existing culvert offered a more cost-effective way to increase its load capacity than replacing it with a new structure.
